Fact: Even Celebrities Mess Up!
The one thing I always tell my kids when it come to safe social media etiquette is: “Don’t post anything on social media you wouldn’t want to read as the headline of a newspaper.”
Well, the very beautiful, mega-famous Rihanna should have listened to her mother’s advice on social media etiquette, because she wrote something mean about one of her fans that was a headline on today’s MSN’s page. When will they learn?

Social media etiquette is a new area of interest for me, personally, as I have had to adjust to the rapidly growing world of social networking. Gaging how to talk about social media etiquette with my kids, who of an impressionable age when it comes to this technology, has been tricky, but I have found that showing them a few examples of how their favorite celebrities have forgotten their manners is a great way to get the message across. Social media awareness is also very necessary to create a safe environment and prevent cyber-bullying, seeing as it is an epidemic that requires attention on all of our parts, starting with practicing and teaching our kids social media safety.
